For children newborn - 8 mths.
Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a mixed Ages Class, either on their own or with an older brother or sister. Babies may also take the special "Infant Class" offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. (This class cannot be repeated.) The music activities and materials for this class are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. New parents get to meet other parents & caregivers of newborns and learn fascinating music activities they can recreate at home with their baby.
Mixed-Ages Class
For children newborn - 4yrs. (All classes are mixed aged unless otherwise indicated.)
This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine Music Together song collections. This class follows the recommendations of child development researchers grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring instruments.
The whole family is welcome to participate. Any caregiver - parents, grandparents, nanny - can bring the children.

Music Together Big Kids Class
For children 5yrs. - 7yrs.
Music Together Big Kids™ is a program that focuses on Basic Music Literacy, laying the foundation for formal music instruction in school or in private instrument lessons, as well as a lifetime of joyful music making.
In Big Kids, your child is introduced to a developmentally appropriate curriculum that includes:
- solfege
- instrumental solos and ensembles
- choreography
- vocal development
- drumming skills
Your child will have opportunities to:
- conduct
- improvise
- learn more complex musical concepts like chord function, musical form, and reading notation.
Additional elements include:
- take home Solfege Cards
- HomePlay pages
- your child's own curriculum binder of music - and of course
- his or her own Big Kids cd!
Parent participation is the hallmark of the Music Together program, but many children of this age are ready for more independence in the classroom, so parent attendance in each Big Kids class is welcome but not required. Guided by the take home materials, the entire family can continue the fun and learning at home and you can stay connected with what your child is learning in class. On their own in class, your child will build life skills like leadership, decision-making, and teamwork at the same time as she builds her music skills.
While this can be a "drop-off" class, you (or another caregiver) should plan to attend the first and last class of the semester. You may attend any and all classes if you wish.
Your child must be five to be eligible for this class - by September 1st for the fall semester; by December 31st for the winter semester; and by March 15th for the spring semester.
